All: Let us worship God! PRAYER OF PRAISE We shout for joy to God who rides upon the clouds! We sing praises to our awe- inspiring God, before whom the earth quakes, and whose abundant blessings provide for all in need. You, O God, are Sovereign over the earth; you lead captives to freedom and break the yoke of oppression. We sing praise to you, O God, who dwells in holiness. O God, how awesome you are in your sanctuary! You give power and strength to your people. We praise you this day for who you are, and for your amazing love. We pray in Jesus’ name. Amen. HYMN Morning Has Broken Morning has broken like the first morning, blackbird has spoken like the first bird.Praise for the singing! Praise for the morning! Praise for them springing fresh from the world! Sweet the rain's new fall, sunlit from heaven, like the first dewfall on the first grass.Praise for the sweetness of the wet garden sprung in completeness where his feet pass. Mine is the sunlight! Mine is the morning! Born of the one light Eden saw play!Praise with elation, praise every morning, God's re-creation of the new day! PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION OLD TESTAMENT LESSON Psalm 68:1-10 NEW TESTAMENT LESSON John 17:1-11 SERMON This is Eternal Life AFFIRMATION OF FAITH From a Brief Statement of Faith We trust in Jesus Christ, fully human, fully God. Jesus proclaimed the reign of God: preaching good news to the poor and release to the captives, teaching by word and deed and blessing the children, healing the sick and binding up the brokenhearted, eating with outcasts, forgiving sinners, and calling all to repent and believe the gospel. Unjustly condemned for blasphemy and sedition, Jesus was crucified, suffering the depths of human pain and giving his life for the sins of the world. God raised this Jesus from the dead, vindicating his sinless life, breaking the power of sin and evil, delivering us from death to life eternal. Amen. PASTORAL PRAYER and the LORD’S PRAYER HYMN Lord of the Dance I danced in the morning when the world was begun,And I danced in the moon and the stars and the sun,And I came down from heaven and I danced on the earth,At Bethlehem I had my birth. Dance, then, wherever you may be, I am the Lord of the Dance, said he,And I'll lead you all, wherever you may be,And I'll lead you all in the Dance, said he. I danced for the scribe and the pharisee, but they would not dance And they would not follow me.I danced for the fishermen, for James and John -They came with me and the Dance went on. (chorus) I danced on the Sabbath and I cured the lame; The holy people said it was a shame. They whipped and they stripped and they hung me high,And left me there on a cross to die. (chorus) I danced on a Friday when the sky turned black -It's hard to dance with the devil on your back. They buried my body and they thought I'd gone,But I am the Dance, and I still go on. (chorus) They cut me down and I leapt up high;I am the life that will never, never die;I'll live in you if you'll live in me -I am the Lord of the Dance, said he. (chorus) BENEDICTION

We rejoice in your love for us, and in the new life we have been given through your Son, Jesus Christ. Open our eyes to recognize your presence with us; open our hearts to the love that You have for us; open our minds to the truth you would reveal to us. All glory and praise to you, triune God, now and forevermore. Amen. HYMN For the Beauty of the Earth For the beauty of the earth, for the glory of the skies, for the love which from our birth over and around us lies;Lord of all, to thee we raise this our hymn of grateful praise. For the wonder of each hour, of the day and of the night, hill and vale, and tree and flower, sun and moon, and stars of light;Lord of all, to thee we raise this our hymn of grateful praise. For the joy of ear and eye, for the heart and mind's delight, for the mystic harmony, linking sense to sound and sight;Lord of all, to thee we raise this our hymn of grateful praise. For the joy of human love, brother, sister, parent, child, friends on earth and friends above, for all gentle thoughts and mild;Lord of all, to thee we raise this our hymn of grateful praise. For thy church, that evermore lifteth holy hands above, offering up on every shore her pure sacrifice of love;Lord of all, to thee we raise this our hymn of grateful praise. PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION OLD TESTAMENT LESSON Psalm 66:1-5 NEW TESTAMENT LESSON John 14:15-21 SERMON I Will Send a Helper AFFIRMATION OF FAITH From the Confession of 1967 God the Holy Spirit fulfills the work of reconciliation in human life. The Holy Spirit creates and renews the church as the community in which people are reconciled to God and to one another. The Spirit enables people to receive forgiveness as they forgive one another and to enjoy the peace of God as they make peace among themselves. In spite of their sin, the Spirit gives people power to become representatives of Jesus Christ and his gospel of reconciliation to all. Amen. PASTORAL PRAYER and the LORD’S PRAYER HYMN Though I May Speak Though I may speak with bravest fire, and have the gift to all inspire, and have not love, my words are vain as sounding brass and hopeless gain. Though I may give all I possess, and striving so my love profess, but not be given by love within, the profit soon turns strangely thin. Come, Spirit, come, our hearts control, our spirits long to be made whole.Let inward love guide every deed; by this we worship, and are freed. BENEDICTION
